Consumers buy laminate, preferring it to linoleum or parquet, because of the good price-performance ratio of this building material. It costs less than parquet, easy to clean, looks more interesting than the usual economy-class flooring: linoleum. So this is a "compromise" option. But how to choose the color of the laminate, its texture? After all, the wrong choice will poison the impression of the interior of the room for more than one year! This is where some tips come in handy. Designers, artists and just people who remember the lessons of fine art at school, for convenience, always classify the color palette into several groups. These are warm and cold shades. White, black, gray stand apart. Much depends on the shades, on which complementary colors are selected. Recall that the warm ones include the variations of red and yellow colors and their “derivatives”, while the cold ones include blue, green, and purple.

A palette of colors and names for laminate flooring

Adhere to the universal principle: in the interior should not be more than 3 primary colors. If there are many shades, then it is much more difficult to achieve the attractiveness of the decor, harmony. The room will turn into a lurid, tiring eye stain. So do not overdo it when choosing the dominant colors. In general, it is customary in modern interiors to make floors, walls and ceilings neutral, and to create accents and color spots with the help of accessories: bedspreads, curtains, pillows and rugs.

Laminate does not have to imitate natural wood with precision. Some unnatural colors are popular, for example, light gray, red, lilac. There are lamellas made "under a stone", "under a tile", etc. Here the color palette can be generally any, as long as there is enough imagination.

Large building materials companies make it easier for customers to produce finished product samples. You can look through the catalog, equipped with small pieces of lamellas or their high-quality photographs, compare them with each other. And in some cases, even get a free catalog on hand and bring it home, so that the comparison is even more reliable.

Neutral colors

Fashionable shades of laminate today. These include ashen, pearl, milk and similar. Of the specific types of wood, bleached oak can be an example. These colors in themselves do not attract the eye too much; they only set off the pieces of furniture and decor, serving as an inconspicuous but stylish background. Already not strictly white, but still dim.

Yellow shades

Light warm colors bring lightness to the interior, give people a sense of joy and coziness. This option will be optimal if the room faces the north side, is too dark, or the windows are small and there is not enough light. Natural colors of wood, except for some, are warm. Beige, brown, reddish tones of the floor - this is convenient and familiar. A good choice if your apartment is decorated in traditional, natural styles.

Cool colors

Cold shades are good for a room located on the south side, too sunny and bright. A good choice is the bedroom. Too bright, acid colors excite the brain, interfere with rest and focus on preparing for bed. You should choose a neutral, eye-pleasing tone.

White shades

Gone are the days when light furniture was certainly associated with the hospital. Now a white floor is a great choice when planning a room decoration, especially if it doesn't get enough lighting. The space is visually expanding, the apartment looks spacious and elegant. Visual accent is recommended on several bright accessories or pieces of furniture, so that the room does not look too strict, causing associations with a snowy field.

We do not recommend laying white laminate in the hall, kitchen, in the nursery. The smallest spot will be noticeable on it, and the floor will constantly have to be cleaned - pleasure is below average.

Dark shades

Be wary of too dark colors, for example, fashionable wenge (imitation of the texture of almost black wood). If you overdo it, the interior will produce a gloomy, crushing impression. A good choice is to lay a dark laminate in the corridor, hall, or in any room where there is a risk of quick pollution and mashing of the floor covering.

An interesting solution: to lay a completely black laminate in a room decorated in an ultra-modern style: techno, hi-tech, etc. As an option - Gothic. Beware of dark laminate flooring, if the ceilings in your apartment are low, otherwise they will visually "lower" even more noticeably. Give preference to light colors.

Patterned and multi-colored laminate

Multi-colored flooring is an easy way to turn a previously boring room into something original and memorable. Today's industry provides an opportunity to realize the most unusual notion of a designer. There are lamellas that imitate not only wood, but even a colorful patterned carpet, leather, metal surface and stone slabs! So it's only a matter of fantasy. To design a home in any particular style, study the materials about it, see photos of finished interiors. You can clearly see on them what color tones of the floors will be relevant for this direction.

It is advisable that in a room with a motley, eye-catching floor there should not be too much furniture and decor, otherwise everything will look overloaded. The viewer's gaze as if "does not understand" what he needs to pay attention to. If the room is large, then it makes sense to visually zon it, including with the help of flooring in different colors or shades. As an option: the main tone for a light tree and the insertion of elements of a contrasting color. Such visual division looks interesting, because the floor attracts the eye, ceases to be a boring half-empty "field".
