Vertical stripes when printing on a laser printer

Modern office equipment is sometimes quite fastidious in operation and laser printers are no exception. One of the most common print defects, indicating a device malfunction, is the appearance of vertical stripes on paper. This article will tell you what to do if stripes appear on printed materials.

Why stripes appear when printing on a laser printer

There are a number of reasons why a print device can leave streaks on documents. Among them:

  1. Not enough toner.
  2. Laser problems.
  3. Defects of the photodrum.
  4. Defects of the magnetic shaft.
  5. Poor contact between the drum unit and the magnetic shaft.
  6. Incorrectly installed dosing blade.
  7. Lack of tightness in the cartridge.
  8. Overflow hopper mining.
  9. Failure of the charging roller.

IMPORTANT!If the printer has recently refilled a new toner, then the appearance of strips during printing may be due to poor quality powder or improper filling.

How to remove the vertical stripes when printing

Laser problems or ending ink are indicated by the appearance of white lines on printed pages. In the case of a lack of paint, the solution to the problem is simple - you need to refill the cartridge. Worse, if the normal functioning of the laser is disrupted. For the correct and long work of his experts strongly recommend to monitor the state of the device, regularly wiping the mirror of the scanner with a clean and smooth cloth.

Gray-black stripes, having a wave-like shape, usually located at the edges of the sheet, may indicate damage to the photodrum. Damage to the drum is the result of a banal wear during long operation.

IMPORTANT!The photodrum may be damaged due to improper operation of the device, its frequent analysis and poor-quality repairs.

An acceptable solution to this problem is to replace the part with a new one.

The same applies to the magnetic shaft: it is impossible to repair this part and any service center upon detection of defects immediately offers to replace it. The first sign of wear of the magnetic shaft is the gray background of the document and the horizontal dark lines on it.

If a vertical white line appears on the printed document across the page, the cause of the breakdown may be a disruption in the operation of the dosing blade. The blade itself is a cartridge part. It is responsible for the amount of toner that gets on the magnetic shaft.

Abnormalities in the blade in most cases are associated with the use of poor quality paper. The villi of such paper quickly stick to the dosing blade, and the magnetic shaft in the place of their accumulation can no longer uniformly collect paint. In order to return the details of performance, you must thoroughly wipe its surface with alcohol.

If the document is printed with black stripes across, then the reason for this may be poor contact between the magnetic shaft and the photodrum. Contact deteriorates due to dirt adhering to parts. In this case, cleaning the cartridge will help solve the problem.

Vertically arranged along the entire length of the page stripes of dashes and specks may indicate spilling of the toner and are easily eliminated by cleaning the waste of the cartridge.
