Why do batteries strike?

The usual attribute of the dwelling is radiators. Without these plumbing fixtures, it is impossible to create a warm, cozy atmosphere during the cold season. Touching the batteries is sometimes accompanied by a slight tingling or more noticeable, even painful fluctuations in electrical current, which can cause irritation on the skin.

Why the battery beats

The human body is subject to the influence of electricity. Therefore, when in contact with conductive elements, there are unpleasant sensations. Low voltage current up to 20 Volts is difficult to determine by touch. High voltage causes itching and burns the skin on contact. A current greater than 120 volts has a painful effect on the body. If, when the radiators are touched, an electrical discharge causes a painful reaction, then they reveal the cause of the occurrence and eliminate it.

Problems inside your apartment

Equipping housing, a person complements it with all sorts of modern household appliances that increase comfort. These include: electric water heaters, microwave, office equipment. And the wiring is not always designed to connect such equipment. In addition, improving the interior of the apartment, the owners complement the decor, using a variety of products with synthetic components: laminate, carpet and upholstered furniture.

Such innovations give housing not only comfort, but can cause a current to appear on the surface of batteries. These include:

  • static discharge arising from the abundance of synthetic materials;
  • Wrong connection of house wiring at the input;
  • malfunction of household appliances;
  • wiring damage;
  • use of communication pipes as grounding, when connecting electrical engineering.

To identify the cause of the following activities:

First of all, find out whether the current is static. After the discharge will disturb, it is necessary to touch the radiator again. If the battery no longer beats the current, this means that the problem is caused by the presence of static voltage associated with a large number of synthetic products in the room.

In case of repeated unpleasant sensations, other possible causes will be diagnosed. For this:

  • check the presence of "land" the correctness of the input to the apartment;
  • inspect household appliances for possible exposure of compounds or heating elements;
  • check the contacts, and if possible, measure the resistance of the apartment wiring (cables of different phases should not be “short-circuited” or burned);
  • identify possible leads of the "earth" wire to the plumbing or heating pipes of the apartment.

IMPORTANT! If there is a tester, they are convinced that there is resistance of each phase and the absence of "stray" currents.

If any of the deficiencies are found, it is eliminated, because a small voltage leakage may increase, and subsequently, cause a short circuit.

REFERENCE! Improper grounding loop, in a private household, can be the reason for the appearance of "stray" currents.

Neighborhood

The risers of the heating pipes and plumbing are conductors of electricity. If the neighbors used communications to ground household heating appliances, then the entire staircase would suffer. To identify such a connection is very difficult and, often, you have to put up with this problem without solving it.

ATTENTION! Centralized electricity supply in apartment buildings of Soviet-era buildings did not provide for a ground bus! This forces residents to connect the third wire of modern electrical engineering with pipes.

In addition, unscrupulous tenants who use illegal connection methods, bypassing the meter, may live near you. Such a connection with neighbors may cause batteries to shock.

Electricians to eliminate "stray" effects, it is recommended to install on the input to the apartment protective disconnect device (RCD). But the experience of installing such devices suggests that their use in the old five-storey buildings does not give a positive result, but on the contrary, it adds to the residents problems due to the constant power cuts to the apartment.
