Do-it-yourself warm water floor under the tile

Now many refuse to use carpet flooring, considering it a relic of the past. Moreover, modern types of ceramic tiles allow you to create the necessary comfort in the room. But in this case, the floor becomes quite cold. The underfloor heating system can help in solving the problem. Recently, such a heating system has become very popular. And knowing all the nuances of the installation process, it can be done independently. Do-it-yourself water floor is real.

Mounting options

Before proceeding with the installation of the system, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work:

  • Dismantle the old flooring.
  • Remove screed.
  • Level the base.

REFERENCE. If you cannot create a perfectly smooth surface, a minimum height difference is allowed.

After the old coating is removed, you can proceed with installation. Laying is carried out on a concrete base. To do this, you need to make a screed. If the floor is wooden, then it is impossible to make a screed. In this case, the underfloor heating is laid by the lay method.

Do not forget that the pipes for the underfloor heating system are large enough in diameter, this can make the height in the room less. However, you can significantly reduce the thickness of the screed. To do this, use a special panel of expanded polystyrene, in which grooves are cut.

REFERENCE. To maximize heat transfer, pipes must be closed with aluminum sheets.

This option for laying the system is most optimal for tiles.

After the foundation has been prepared and all the preparatory work has been done, you can proceed to laying the pipes. There are two styling options:

  • In a spiral. This option is suitable for large areas. Pipes are laid in a spiral in the form of turns. This method has a drawback - the supply of warm water and the return of cold water will go parallel to each other.
  • Parallel. Good choice for small rooms. Installation of pipes is carried out in the form of a "snake". Since the highest temperature will be at the beginning of the system, installation should begin from the coldest place in the room.

Choosing pipes

For a warm water floor, several types of pipes are used. It:

  • Polyethylene. They are durable, heat-resistant and resistant to maintaining their properties in the event that the water in the system is frozen. However, such pipes straighten when heated, and therefore require a fairly rigid fixation.
  • Metalloplastik. Their characteristics are not inferior to the first option. It does not deform when heated. They are very durable and also have a low cost. Therefore, this option is very popular.
  • Copper. The material has very good thermal conductivity. However, copper pipes have a very high price. They must also be insulated from the screed, as copper does not tolerate contact with the alkali.
  • Polypropylene. According to their characteristics, they are not inferior to other materials used. However, they have a very large bend radius, so they are used extremely rarely.

Tile underfloor heating

The installation algorithm is as follows:

  • First, preparing the base. The surface is cleaned and leveled.
  • Preparing a place to install a control system - collector. You can make a small niche in the wall or place a special cabinet on it.
  • A collector is mounted in a prepared place. It is necessary to connect all devices, pipes and taps.
  • Waterproofing is laid on the prepared surface. The waterproofing material must also be laid on the bottom of the walls.
  • A damper tape is laid around the perimeter of the room. It will compensate for the expansion of concrete during heating and cooling.
  • Insulation and heat-reflecting material are placed on the base.
  • Next, the pipes are installed in the selected way - spiral or parallel.
  • After the system is assembled, the system is checked for leaks and performance. The check should last at least 24 hours.
  • If during the day no defects were found, then you need to fill the floor with a screed.
  • Concrete must be allowed to dry completely. It usually takes about a month.
  • When the screed has dried, you can begin laying tiles.

If you adhere to all the rules, as well as choose the appropriate and high-quality material, even a beginner will be able to install the system. The result will be a warm and comfortable room.
