What is a parquet board

Among other flooring made of wood, this is the youngest material. Almost immediately, he became very popular. This product has an elegant appearance, meets all safety requirements and at the same time costs significantly less than solid wood.

What is the board made of?

The modern version of the floorboard consists of three layers:

  • The foundation. This is the lowest stabilizing layer. Most often it is made from coniferous wood or veneer. It is necessary so that the product does not bend during operation;
  • Core. The middle layer is made of coniferous dies, which are laid across the product. It is in it that the castle connection is equipped. It also provides extra strength;
  • Decorative layer. This is the topmost layer of the product made of valuable wood. Its thickness is at least 4 mm, and it is characterized by increased resistance to mechanical stress. For the design of the boards, the wood is carefully selected, since it should not have defects, knots, and the shade on all lamellas should be the same.

Most often, the following tree species are used for finishing parquet boards:

  • Oak. The most common option. This is due to the fact that oak has maximum strength and can last for many years;
  • Beech. Most often used in the design of children's rooms, as it has a lot of different shades, but not very durable;
  • Cherry. A universal option suitable for any room. It has a wide palette of colors, from brown to faded pink;
  • Wenge. Very beautiful and exotic wood of almost black color. It has excellent durability;

Main characteristics and properties

When choosing the most suitable flooring, it is necessary to take into account its characteristics:

  • The mass of the product. This indicator depends on the wood used, the density index of which is different for each tree species. The denser the material, the more weight the finished floor will have. The number of layers of varnish also affects this;

Firms producing high-quality flooring indicate information about the weight of the product on the package.

  • Strength. Parquet board is divided into several classes of wear resistance. This characteristic indicates how resistant the product is to external mechanical stress and what operating conditions it is suitable for. The indicator has a two-digit value. The first figure indicates the scope, and the second indicates resistance to external influences;
  • Coating. To finish can be used varnish or oil. It determines the life of the floor and affects its appearance;

Distinctive properties are:

  • The material is completely natural;
  • Provides good sound insulation;
  • Does not require thorough and special cleaning;
  • If the product is made with high quality, then it will last for many years;

Sizes and color of a parquet board

To flooring in harmony with the general style of the room, you need to choose the right shade. Since different wood is used in the manufacture of the board, the color palette is quite wide, which allows you to easily select the necessary option:

  • White and light shade board. Suitable for small rooms, visually expanding them and filling them with light;
  • All shades of brown are universal, so they are suitable for decoration of any room;
  • Ebony looks very exotic and unusual, will become a real decoration of the interior. But it is not suitable for small rooms;

Product color may change over time. This information must be clarified with the seller!

The progress of installation works depends on the dimensions of the floorboard:

  • The length of the product is from 20 - 25 cm. The longer the product, the less chance that the floor will begin to creak in the future;
  • Thickness. This is a very important feature. It determines the strength of the product, and it affects the installation height of the door jamb. Thickness can be from 0.7 to 2.6 cm. Professionals consider the optimal value - 1.4 cm.;
  • Width varies from 13 to 20 cm ...

The range of floorboards allows you to choose a product that meets all the necessary requirements.
