Convergence. Refers to how clearly a single color pixel is displayed on the screen. Each pixel consists of three points, namely: red, green and blue. If the points do not match much, the pixel will be blurry.

Monitor resolution is the number of pixels on the screen. This is the sharpness of the image on the display screen. This is expressed as a matrix. A resolution of 640 × 480 means that there are 640 pixels horizontally and 480 pixels vertically. Actual resolution is determined by the video controller, not the monitor. Most monitors have a resolution of 640 × 480, 800 × 600 and 1024 × 768.

Types of matrices.LCD (Liquid crystal display) is a liquid crystal display, an electronic display device that operates by applying an alternating voltage to a layer of liquid crystal, thereby causing changes in its optical properties. Virtually every LCD that you will find on the market today has a TN panel. VA Matrix (Vertical Alignment) is a type that uses liquid crystals and electric current. Perhaps the VA matrix’s greatest strength is its ability to block light from the backlight when not needed.

As experienced users already understand, one problem with LCD displays is the backlight. When the LCD wants to display black, the color filter will be positioned so that very little light from the backlight leaks out. While they are trying to do intelligent work, their filters are not always perfect, so they are not able to make black deep as it should be.

IMPORTANT! Fortunately, VA matrices are great at this task. And due to the fact that they are prone to clouding or dripping around the edges of the screen, screens are often considered as ideal candidates for moviegoers and are suitable for general purpose work.

VA matrices also have improved viewing angles and good color reproduction. Their excellent color rendering makes monitors ideal devices for working with critical colors or for gamers who want to play their games with the highest possible image quality.

A significant drawback of VA matrices is its low level of response when pixels transition from one state to another. This may cause more noticeable blur when playing.

Fortunately, more modern versions of VA matrices use the superior pixel overload feature, which is not prone to problems of earlier versions. In terms of price, VA matrices are more expensive than TN panels, and at about the level of IPS panels.

Response time

Response time is the speed at which a color pixel on a screen becomes white and then color. A response in 6 milliseconds is better than in 8. Modern displays have a response time of 2.5 milliseconds. The shorter the response time of a pixel, the better and smoother the picture will be on the TV screen or monitor.
