How to wash parquet

Specialists consider parquet one of the most refined and beautiful floor coverings of all existing. It looks chic in any interior and serves for a long time without additional investments. However, such a coating requires quite laborious care, but many housewives, having studied the secrets of proper washing and cleaning, are happy to choose this solid material for finishing the floor in the room.

How to wash parquet?

  • Temperature swing and humidity at an elevated level (over time leads to swelling or drying of the material);

By what means and how to wash the parquet to shine?

The frequency of cleaning depends on the room, where is the parquet laid, the intensity of its use. For example, in a bedroom, wet floor cleaning should be done no more than twice a month. But in the rooms where dozens of people pass every day, you need to wash the floor daily in the evening hours, so that during the night the floor has completely dried out and prepared for new mechanical influences.

Daily cleaning of the parquet in any room can be carried out daily using a vacuum cleaner and a dry cloth. With constant care, the flooring will look great and will retain its performance properties for a long time.

Important! Before wet cleaning, check the entire floor surface for cracks or chips. If any, they must be filled with small sawdust mixed with the adhesive mass.

Today on the market there are a large number of different products for parquet care, they are divided into several groups:

  • cleaners (they are aerosols and concentrates, they are used to wash any parquet, they clean well, without leaving stains, they are absolutely harmless);
  • wax-based mastics (used for varnished and oily surfaces, the principal difference between these products is the method of their application, the mastic will have to be carefully rubbed into the surface of the parquet);
  • varnishes (synthetically created or water-based products that not only effectively remove impurities, but also create an additional layer of protection against moisture).

At first glance, it may seem that the flooring is too whimsical to care for and requires large investments. This is not entirely true, if the floor covering is carefully monitored and cleaned in a timely manner with high-quality modern products, it will not require serious time and labor for maintenance.

Stains of stains on the floor, the method of their removal

Often, various stains and stains may appear on the floor. Most often, they appear when trying to independently wipe off existing pollution without the necessary funds. They eat into the surface and it becomes very difficult to remove. To properly remove stains, you need to know which tool will be the best:

  • tea and coffee stains, as well as stains from fruit juice or water (they can be easily removed with a soft microfiber cloth and a weak soda solution);
  • greasy stains or stubborn footprints from shoes (experts advise to gently wipe with gasoline, and then wash off the composition with a soap solution);
  • stains from cosmetics or a ballpoint pen (ordinary medical alcohol can easily cope with such stains).

In general, with proper regular maintenance of the parquet and constant coating of it with a varnish composition or mastic, cleaning it will not be a problem. All contaminants will be easily removed from the surface.

Basic rules for parquet care

Whatever type of parquet is used to finish the floors in the house, it must be carefully monitored and looked after. Only in this case will it last a long time and retain its beautiful appearance. Proper care involves observing a number of basic rules:

  • you can not immediately start washing the varnished floor (after varnishing the lamellas, wet cleaning is started no earlier than 2 weeks later);
  • immediately wash the spots (it is important to remove fresh spots from the lamellas immediately, without waiting until the substance is absorbed into the tree);
  • in the hallway on the parquet it is necessary to lay a rug (at the door where people go from the street in dirty boots, you need a rug that will take on most of the street garbage);
  • protective caps and felt linings (in order not to scratch the parquet on the legs of the furniture, you need to wear special stands or make felt from felt);
  • optimal microclimate (in a room with a parquet floor, it is important to maintain a constant temperature and humidity, differences can lead to swelling of the dies or their drying out);
  • dry cleaning (parquet can be cleaned daily only with a dry cloth);
  • regularly update the protective coating (varnishing should be carried out constantly at the required intervals);
  • wet cleaning with a special rag (it is recommended to use soft microfiber cloths, which before washing thoroughly squeeze out excess moisture).

Parquet, although more capricious than other materials, still looks very impressive in any room. Therefore, many people prefer beauty and brilliance. They are ready to spend additional money and time to properly care for the lamellas, but get a chic floor in their own apartment.
