DIY Christmas tree stand made from improvised materials

Preparing for the meeting of the main holiday of the year is a troublesome business. After all, it is necessary to redo so much. The main thing is to establish the symbol of the New Year to the Christmas tree. And if everyone used the decorations to eat tinsel, toys and garlands responsibly, then they always forget about the stand. However, a stand that is not properly designed can ruin the entire look. In addition to beauty, it is important that the design provides maximum stability for the Christmas tree. The stand can be bought, as well as made independently from improvised materials.

Having decided to make a stand with your own hands, you need to remember that it should not only provide stability, but also look beautiful. If the diameter of the legs of the spruce is small, and the tree itself is not high, then a small stump is perfect as a stand. A stump about 30 cm high is enough. You will also need a drill, sparkles for decoration, glue and a brush. In the stump, it is necessary to drill a hole equal in diameter to the trunk of the spruce. It should also be strictly perpendicular to the floor. After this, the stump should be covered with glue and sprinkled with sequins.

REFERENCE! If there is a cross, but it is unpresentable, you can give it a stylish look by using an ordinary wooden box as an element of decor. The box itself does not need to be closed. It can be slightly sanded and varnished. Inside, put toys and other Christmas tree decorations.

In the absence of a crosspiece, it can be made independently.

Wooden cross under a Christmas tree

This is the easiest and cheapest way to make a cross for a New Year tree.

For him you will need:

  1. A few bars.
  2. Drill with drills of the required diameter.
  3. Hacksaw or planer.
  4. Self-tapping screws.
  5. Glue.

Phased implementation:

  1. First you need to prepare the bars. They need to give the desired length by carefully cutting the ends. This must be done as evenly as possible in order to avoid the tree swinging.
  2. The next step will be to cut the grooves. This can be done using the chisel. The depth of the groove should be approximately half the thickness of the bar.
  3. The resulting grooves need to be covered with glue, for reliable fixation of the bars.
  4. Next, you need to collect the cross.
  5. When the glue is fully seized, the bars must be additionally fixed with self-tapping screws. This is required to ensure the stability of the structure, since the trees have a considerable mass.
  6. The final stage is drilling a hole in the middle of the resulting cross. Its diameter should be equal to the diameter of the tree.

ATTENTION! If there are no bars at hand, they can be replaced with boards or MDF. Since their thickness is much less than that of the bars, and they can’t drill a hole, something needs to be attached to them to install the Christmas tree. For this, you can take, for example, an aluminum coffee can. You also need a plate to which the jar will be attached.

In this case:

  • the jar needs to be welded to the plate;
  • for greater stability, additional stiffening ribs must be welded to it;
  • boards need to be glued together;
  • further, using self-tapping screws, attach the plate with the jar to the crosspiece from boards or MDF.

After that, the jar needs to be beautifully decorated, for example, using tinsel, or you can make decorative gifts and put them under the Christmas tree.

Christmas tree stand made of metal

If the necessary tools are available, the stand can be made of metal.

To do this, you will need a pipe and rods. The diameter of the pipe must match the diameter of the tree trunk. Procedure:

  1. The rods need to be fixed in a vice and with the help of a hammer give them the shape of future legs. This must be done very carefully to achieve maximum symmetry. Otherwise, the tree will swing after installation.
  2. To spruce better held in the inner part of the pipe, you need to make several grooves.
  3. By welding, the legs are attached to the pipe. If they turned out to be of different lengths, the rods need to be cut with a grinder.
  4. All ends of the rods and pipes must be treated with sandpaper to remove roughness.
  5. Further, the resulting design is painted in the desired color.
  6. Under the pipe you need to put a can of water, and then install a Christmas tree.
  7. The stand can be masked with tinsel if necessary.

After making the selected variant of the cross and installing the tree, you can proceed to decorate the Christmas tree. So with the help of small efforts and a minimum of materials, you can make a stand for spruce.
