How to set up electronic floor scales

Electronic scales allow you to track any changes in weight and guarantee maximum measurement accuracy. In order to receive reliable data about your body, you should correctly configure this device and follow the recommendations for its use.

The process of setting up floor scales

Before you start setting up new electronic scales, you will need to install a battery in it and make sure that the device is working.

The process of setting up the balance includes the following main steps:

  1. Place the device on a flat, flat surface in a horizontal position. Most suitable is solid with a smooth texture. Carpets, soft surfaces, uneven tiles, protruding parts can significantly increase the measurement error.
  2. Turn on the scale. This can be done using a special button or when the foot touches the touch surface. After that, a zero countdown will appear on the display - this means that the device is ready for measurements. Some models are included directly when weighing. You can clarify the method of inclusion in the technical passport of the device.
  3. Stand on the surface so that the legs are parallel to each other. This is necessary for the correct distribution of mass and to obtain accurate indicators. Sensors are usually located on either side of the center of the instrument.

IMPORTANT! The stability of the device at first start-up determines the correctness of its subsequent operation.

Most models are automatically configured at the first start, for devices with additional functionality (body mass index, ratio of fat and muscle tissue, storing the latest indicators and tracking changes), you should learn about the features of their settings in the instructions for the device.

Checking the electronic balance for accuracy

Modern floor scales guarantee a small measurement error. The maximum allowable value of this indicator is not more than 0.4 kg. To check the error of a particular device, it is enough to perform several weighings in a row and subtract the minimum from the maximum value obtained. If the error exceeds the permissible - there may be a malfunction in the sensors.

ATTENTION! Electronic scales designed for humans cannot be used to weigh things. Doing so could damage the device.

Some scales have a reset function. Usually the corresponding button is located at the bottom of the device. To press it, you will need to gently turn the product upside down.

If resetting the settings did not allow increasing the accuracy of the readings, then it is worth taking the device for repair or purchasing a new product. When buying another product, you will need to pay attention to the quality of its assembly, the reliability of the manufacturer and the presence of positive reviews on the product, so that the error of the new device has the least value. This will ensure a long life and the reliability of the data received.

How to use floor scales

After installing and adjusting the balance, it is important to follow the operating rules recommended by the manufacturer in the technical documentation. These include safety precautions, how to turn on and use the device, and how to clean and clean them.

Place the device on a smooth, hard surface without any bumps or holes. It is desirable that this be one permanent place where the data will have a minimally different measurement error.

Proper weighing is ensured under the following conditions:

  • lack of extra heavy clothes and additional accessories;
  • straight vertical pose with arms down;
  • lack of unnecessary sudden movements;
  • the position of the legs is symmetrical on both sides of the surface.

To extend the life of the device, handle it carefully. Conventional electronic scales for humans withstand weight up to 220 kg. Exceeding this norm will damage the mechanism. The design of the appliance may also break as a result of impact or water ingress.

You should pay attention to the integrity of the case and protect it from external influences of extraneous factors:

  • temperature changes, high humidity;
  • proximity of heaters and batteries;
  • prolonged exposure to direct sunlight;
  • dust and other foreign matter.

Only a damp or dry cloth may be used to clean the surface of the balance. Do not wash the appliance under running water or using harsh means.

Subject to all storage and operating rules, the device will have a long service life and provide the most accurate measurements. Information obtained using electronic floor scales will allow you to control any changes in the figure and keep the body in a healthy shape.
