How does a juicer work?

The health benefits of freshly squeezed juices are undeniable, as they contain a large number of mineral micro and macro elements, vitamins, necessary for any person. If you take juices regularly and in small quantities, then they can cleanse your body, you will become more energetic and active, calm your nerves and strengthen your immune system. To get all this, you can not do without a juicer.

How does a juicer work?

The main purpose of the juicer is the allocation of juice from fruits, vegetables and berries. Fruits are placed in a special neck either whole or cut into several parts, depending on the model of the device used. The resulting juice is poured through a special hole into a separate glass, and the cake gets into the container. In various devices, the cake can be removed manually or in automatic mode.

Basic principles of the juicer

Before choosing a specific model, you need to decide which products you will use: soft berries or fruits, hard fruits and vegetables, or maybe all of the above. With a huge selection of existing models, juicers are divided into two main groups:

  1. Citrus Juicer.

This is a simple device, the name of which speaks for itself. It is intended only for citrus fruits: oranges, lemons, tangerines. It works like this: put half of the fruit on a cone, press it with your hand, the engine starts and the juice flows into the container.

You can find an electric option so that you do not need to hold the fruit with your hands, the pressure is carried out using a special handle.

2. Universal juicer.

The universal device allows you to allocate juice from all varieties of fruits and vegetables. For solid fruits, it is recommended to choose a device with a capacity of 200 to 250 watts. A weaker one will not overpower apples and beets, a stronger one will consume more electricity.

3. Centrifugal juicer.

The operation of this device is based on centrifugal force. Inside is a knife that rotates quickly, first chopping the fruits. Under the action of centrifugal force, pieces of fruit are pressed against the walls, juice is separated from the fibers and flows into a glass, and the cake is placed in a waste container.

Important! Fruits and vegetables must first be peeled from the peel and seeds so that they do not get stuck in the filter. The main advantage of these devices is their speed. Centrifugal juicers are suitable for squeezing large quantities of juice! At the same time, almost all models have 2 speeds: for hard and soft fruits.

4. The screw juicer.

Screw devices work like this: fruits are placed in the chamber, while you can load them whole, without first cutting into small parts. First, they fall on a rotating shaft (screw), which grinds them, then they enter the squeezing unit. When passing along the screw, pieces of fruit are compressed, and juice stands out from them.

Further, as in centrifugal devices, it flows into a separate hole, and the cake - into a special container. The main advantage of this device is the extraction of juice from any products.

For example, a screw juicer is definitely suitable for stone fruits, its kit includes a special fork designed to separate the seeds. Another plus is the good quality of squeezed juice. There are a couple of technical advantages - this is less noisy work, economical energy consumption.

Errors while working with the device

In order for the juicer to serve you for many years, we recommend that you avoid the following errors:

  1. Do not wash appliance parts in hot water. At high water temperatures, they can become deformed, and magnetic sensors and seals can also be damaged.
  2. Do not use a knife, fork or other devices that are not included with the juicer as a pusher. They can get stuck and damage the case, or jam the auger.
  3. Do not overload the device in order to speed up operation. Pushing the fruit with excessive force in, so a full neck, can cause problems in the operation of the device. Juice will start to flow through the gasket into the engine.
  4. Avoid poor cleaning. A poorly washed or dried juicer may break. Dried residues of juice or fruits can degrade the permeability of the sieve, which, in turn, can lead to breakdown of individual elements or to a complete failure of the device.
