How a steam generator works

No hostess can avoid ironing. It used to take a lot of time, since it was difficult to achieve a decent result with an iron. Now he was replaced by a steam generator, which copes with the task much faster. It has been widely used both in domestic use and in professional dry cleaners.

Instrument Functions

The initial task of the steam station iron was ironing. Ironing allows you to smooth out numerous folds that are difficult to figure out with a conventional iron. It is easy to point arrows on the trousers with a steam generator, while there are no traces of ironing on the clothes themselves.

But, unlike the iron, the functions of the steam generator are not limited to this. They can easily disinfect and freshen outerwear instead of having them dry cleaned.

Possibility of vertical steaming allows using a steam generator to refresh and iron the curtains without removing them from the curtains.

Some devices come with special nozzles. Using them, you can walk a steam generator over tiles, floors (including carpets), furniture: surfaces will not only be cleaned of dirt, but also disinfected.

It is impossible to list all the functions, since they are limited only by your imagination. You can apply it even when removing old wallpaper.

However, not every steam generator is capable of ensuring the fulfillment of all functions (it still depends on the cost), so it is important to determine the right way to purchase a device in order to choose the best option for yourself.

Device device

Presented on the market Three types of steam generator:

  • with constant water supply - It is used mainly in dry cleaners and car washes;
  • low water supply - devices of small size, but also of low power;
  • with a boiler - The most common steam stations.

All species are similar in general arrangement. Their main components are a stainless steel boiler for heating water, a silicone hose with a high melting point, iron and nozzles. On the case there is a panel with regulators of supply and temperature of steam.

The boiler itself, in fact, is a combination of a tank for liquid (there is also an industrial type, but in a much smaller volume), a heating element, a thermostat and a fuse for temperature.

How a steam generator works

Before starting work, it is necessary to pour water into the tank: preferably purified, as this will significantly reduce the amount of buildup. It will take about ten minutes to heat the water. Under pumping pressure, the steam flows through a hose to the iron, through the openings of which it exits outward to the work surface.

Important! the temperature of the supplied steam is about a hundred degrees Celsius, so you need to carefully use the device to avoid burns. Never direct the iron towards people or animals!

When used correctly, the steam generator is safe. When the steam overheats, the thermostat “turns off” the heating element; when it breaks, this function is transferred to the fuse that opens the circuit (the device is completely turned off). But despite a good protection system, it is better not to leave the steam generator included in the network unattended.

Benefits

The steam generator has a number of advantages both over the iron and over a relative close to it - the steamer.

It allows you to smooth complex folded products without leaving traces of creases. Thanks to a powerful jet of steam, you can iron multiple things (for example, bedding), which will greatly speed up the process.

The low humidity of the steam (about 6%) makes it possible to use it for steaming any fabrics, including delicate ones.

The iron with a steam station is distinguished from the steamer by the possibility of using it at any tilt, which globally expands the area of its application: from ironing curtains to treating floor surfaces and cleaning the car.

The main disadvantages of the steam generator are usually large (compared to iron) and high costHowever, this is a controversial issue, since several devices can be replaced with one device, due to its wide range of functions.
