Hob in the corner of the kitchen

The standard or most common layouts of kitchens involve the installation of cooking surfaces on the straight (middle) part of the countertop with a frontal approach to the work area.

Not every owner and even the interior designer dares to choose the option of installing the stove in a corner. In any case, such a decision will be original, and over its rational organization and ergonomics will have to double smash his head.

First of all, we will consider what solutions are offered by manufacturers of household appliances for corner installations.

A sufficiently convenient geometry for installing the hob in a corner is a circle. Such an option can, for example, be in harmony with a U-shaped kitchen mounted in an adjacent corner, the same in shape as a sink.

Currently, there are a sufficient number of round-shaped models in different colors and designs, however, as a rule, only 3 burners of different diameters can be placed on them. Oval hobs are also available.

Another option for panels with round shapes is a segment. It can have several geometric shapes at its core, but most often it is a series of burners, the center of each of which is located along the radius of the circle. This shape allows you to place up to 4 heating elements.

An alternative to models with a rounded contour are rectangular instruments. Their diversity can satisfy the most demanding tastes - there are rectangular tiles with burners arranged in a row (from two to four pieces), panels in the shape of an angle, square hobs with controls both in the corner of the panel and in the middle.

Given that the angular placement somewhat restricts access to the working area, it is necessary to pay special attention to the choice of a suitable hob shape, and not only from an aesthetic point of view.

Installing the hob in the corner imposes additional requirements for its installation. There are two different options for installing tiles - on a bevel or at a right angle. Consider each of the options.

The beveled angle suggests that the adjoining edges of the countertops should not be sawn at a right angle, but diagonally. As you know, cut angles other than 900require masters of greater qualifications and experience. This mounting option simplifies the suspension of the hood, but at the same time conceals the usable area.

If the hob is installed in a specialized corner cabinet, there will be no problems with its insert. Otherwise, you will have to specially order a corner countertop made to size for seamless docking.

In addition, you will have to suffer with the installation of the hood, if the corner hob is mounted without a bevel.

Prices for corner hob vary widely, depending on their type (gas, electric or induction), design, shape, color, size and other important parameters.

Among the popular tiles suitable for convenient operation to the corner of the kitchen are the following.

  1. Gefest CH 2120 - gas panel with 3 burners. Several color options are available, different in original form and budget value.
  2. Maunfeld MGHG.53.19B - the gas version in a round design, the price is about two times higher than that of the previous device;
  3. VR TC 95 4I - a similar in shape 4-burner induction surface. It has a glass-ceramic coating and is much more expensive than the first model.
  4. A large selection of round and rounded panels are available from the kitchen appliance manufacturer. Foster. And the Quadra 7235042 model of the specified brand, made of stainless steel, is specially designed for corner installation without beveling and equipped with 5 gas burners. True, the price of such an unusual device has 6 characters.

The more intricate the design and form, the correspondingly more expensive the price tag. However, in the case of installing a plate under 450, it is quite possible to refuse to consider exotic options and focus on the classic design, which will significantly save the budget and make your choice based on the functionality and other important parameters of the cooking surfaces.

Advantages and disadvantages of having a hob in the corner

What are the benefits of placing tiles in the corner of the kitchen? First of all, this is an original design. With the right approach to the organization of space, you can create a very cozy atmosphere in the cooking zone, causing a visual association with the home fireplace.

A compact layout with a convenient working area will also be a big plus, especially in the absence of long straight sections for installing the stove in another place.

With a detailed study of the design project, the kitchen with the angular placement of the stove has practically no minuses as such. If the panel will be installed under the bevel, you will have to sacrifice a small part of the corner space.

Otherwise, you will have to limit your choice to the tile, which will be convenient to use in the corner, as well as select and think through the fasteners of the hood. If you want to choose a panel of the original form, this will lead to a significant increase in estimates, but this applies to any design element with a non-standard approach.

If you are not afraid of bold decisions, you are ready to smash your head over the original kitchen project and get used to what you have to cook now, standing in the corner, you can safely consider this option for installing the hob. Otherwise, and even in the conditions of austerity, it is more advisable to consider the classic version.
