How to connect a dance mat to a TV

A dance mat with a TV connection is a modern and popular gadget, which is not only a great entertainment for both children and adults, but an excellent way to improve physical fitness and overall well-being. Many consumers have difficulty connecting it, however, if you follow the correct sequence of actions, it will not require a lot of effort and will take very little time.

There are models of rugs that can be connected:

• only to the TV;
• only to the computer;
• to both devices.

The first of them is equipped with special connectors, the second with a USB cable, the third with both.

REFERENCE. In fact, you can connect any of these types to modern types of TVs. In order to connect the computer mat to the TV, VGA or HDMI cables are additionally used.

Power is supplied using a special nine-volt unit that plugs into an outlet. If the connection is via a computer, such a unit is not required, since the power comes from the device itself via a USB cable.

ATTENTION! It is not recommended to charge the mat from the USB input on the TV, this can lead to incorrect operation!

As already mentioned, a three-color tulip-type cable is connected directly to the TV. Its other name is RCA or composite. The yellow connector is responsible for displaying the video, red for audio in the right speaker, white for the left. They are connected to the nests of the corresponding colors.

REFERENCE. On some devices, the video jack is half yellow and half green. Despite this, it also successfully functions in contact with the connector, as well as completely yellow.

In addition, in some models (for example, in most Philips TVs) such sockets are not available, in this case the special adapters included in the kit are used.

By inserting the connectors into the appropriate color sockets, you only need to connect the power supply. On the one hand, it is inserted into the outlet, on the other, into the connector on the mat intended for it. If the power supply is wireless, it connects to a special adapter and runs on batteries. Many wired units have red LEDs confirming a successful connection.

All that remains is to turn on the mat with the switch (on it, as a rule, there is also a special indicator on it) and put the TV into AV mode.

If you connect the mat to the TV via a computer, you will need to install the Stepmaniya program additionally. For this:

• insert the program disc into a CD-ROM or download it on the Internet;
• open the file "autorun" or "setup";
• Follow the installation instructions step by step;
• run the program;
• follow the path “Make a choice” - “Assignment of keyboard / joystick keys”;
• on the left are the control buttons for player 1, on the right - for player 2. Use the arrows to move the cursor to the "Left" item;

• press the ENTER key;
• step on the rug to the arrow pointing to the left;
• Repeat the previous steps for all directions and both players.

ATTENTION! If you make a mistake, move the cursor to the appropriate cell and press the DEL button, then reassign the appropriate key.

In addition, you can assign two buttons for the same action, for example, the left movement can be set with the arrow on the keyboard, and the same arrow on the mat. In this case, if your mat is designed for one player, the second one can act as a backup for the computer during the game to reduce the likelihood of an error.
