How to disassemble a computer chair

Each workplace in the office is equipped with a computer desk and an armchair. A convenient computer chair removes the load from the spine and muscles of the hands, improves performance, thereby helping to cope with the tasks. However, over time or as a result of overloads, the computer chair may lose functionality or break down due to wear of plastic parts.

And then the question arises, how to disassemble it in order to repair it. It happens that the need to disassemble does not arise because of the repair, but to make it easier to move it to another administrative building.

How to disassemble a computer chair? Before you start disassembling yourself, you need to prepare the necessary tools. For this you will need:

  • Screwdriver with a cross type tip or flat;
  • A rubber mallet (mallet), you can also use a bench hammer, but you will have to work with it more delicately;
  • Chisel;
  • Pliers.

All these many tools will be needed to disconnect the seat from the gas lift, if it has stalled. To do this, turn the crosspiece with the other side downwards with the gas lift, while keeping on weight, apply light blows with a mallet along the edge of the gas lift. If the mallet does not reach the edge - you need to take a chisel.

ImportantIt is forbidden to strike in the center of the gas lift, since there is a mounting bracket that is afraid of shock.

When the gas lift is separated, it remains to remove the wheels, manually, and if it does not work, use the pliers. A screwdriver will be sufficient for further disassembly.

To make it more convenient to work, a computer chair must be placed on a table or stool. First, you need to pull off the holding device - a permanent contact and the back itself. Next, you need to remove the armrests.

To do this, the chair must be turned so that the crosspiece looks up, then unscrew the three fixing screws on each side of the armrest, using a Phillips screwdriver. A pair of short screws that secure the handle to the piastre and a longer one that attaches to the seat. Put the removed parts in the box so that they are not lost, put bushings in the same place. After removing the armrests, set them aside so as not to interfere.

Attention:When assembling the chair, the sleeve must be installed with a large diameter down.

If the armrests are not unscrewed, they will not allow the casing to open the approach to the main fixtures of the piastra and the seat.

How to disassemble an office chair with wheels? The next step will be to unscrew the four small screws that hold the casing of the piastre and the chair together. To obtain the maximum space for the casing of the piastra, press on the lift lever of the gas lift so that it loosens.

In this case, you should raise and rotate the casing, changing the angle of inclination, which will allow to open access to all four screws securing the piastra and the seat in turn.

Having removed the piastra, it is required to check its suitability, look at its support shelves, it is required that they are in the same plane and not be bent. The working part has a noticeable certain angle, the upper plane of the piastra, the blockage is back relative to the sleeve under the gas lift. If the angle is too large or the support shelves are not in the plane, then this indicates its malfunction.

So, it will require replacement with a new one. Of course, with a hammer, you can try to align the piastra, but for this it is advisable to have a working sample on hand.

Important: Very frequent operations for raising and lowering the seat can lead to premature wear of parts and mechanisms.

What difficulties can be encountered

  1. When removing the right armrest, you may experience inconvenience when unscrewing the short rear fixing screw. This is due to the fact that access to it blocks the lever of the gas lift valve. For easy access to the screw, raise and hold the lever with your free hand.
  2. Sometimes you may encounter the problem of removing a pneumatic cartridge.
  3. The metal pin gets stuck in the crosspiece, this happens when removing the wheels. It can be removed using pliers.
