Why foil balls when washing?

The rational housewife knows that some useful household products from the store have "home" counterparts. Perhaps the only difference between such assistants is the price. A vivid example is balls for washing. You can buy them in the household department or make them yourself from a sheet of foil, and spend the money saved for something more important. Well, at least for a chocolate bar.

Foil balls - why put in a washing machine

Layfkhak appeared on the Internet and is actively used by women who are accustomed to running a household based on folk methods.With the help of foil-coated balls they solve several problems:

  • they fight against the coarsening of fleecy and terry materials (this is a problem that arises after washing);
  • increase the efficiency of washing powder and conditioner (things are better washed);
  • remove static electricity;
  • save chemistry.

Some effects are explicable and actually observed. Moreover, having learned about life hacking, major manufacturers of household appliances began to produce ready-made balls for washing. True, they are made not of metal, but of plastic and similar materials with it. This product helps to make a coarse fabric softer due to "beating", and also contributes to a better removal of contaminants - that is, it solves the same problems as foil balls.

Other effects - such as the elimination of static electricity - although supported by the semblance of a scientific basis, are still being questioned by skeptics. Believe it or not - the choice is yours. Many recommend checking in person, but there are experts who insist that the use of foil balls during washing can harm both the machine and things.

They substantiate their hypothesis by the fact that during the active rotation of the drum, tiny particles detach from the manually formed ball. Then, some of them, along with water, get inside the washing machine and accumulate there, while the other rubs and damages the fibers of the clothes.

How to use foil balls when washing

It is possible to minimize possible harm — if it is applied at all, what is in question — by tighter folding of the foil and the subsequent insertion of an already formed ball into gauze or a fine mesh.Someone prefers to use a handkerchief, but its material is too dense.

After several washes, the ball will be well compacted, but this does not mean that you can get it out of the net and start using it without it. The risk of flaking foil pieces will remain.

You can make balls as follows:

  • take a roll of food foil or a large amount of golden chocolate wrappers;
  • crumple up a small piece of foil in your palm;
  • wrap the spool with another sheet, crimp tightly from all sides (try to keep the round shape of the workpiece);
  • repeat the steps until the ball grows to about the size of a ping-pong ball;
  • expand the ball in size, rolling on the table.

You need to stop shortly before the ball of foil in size becomes a little less than a tennis ball. After that, pack the ball in a net or gauze and start using it for its intended purpose.

Put the ball of foil directly into the drum machine. After washing it is dried on a hard surface.

Approximate shelf life of such an assistant in the household: 4-12 months. But experienced users recommend changing the device to a new one at least once every six months.
