Can the floor be poured over the tiles

Bulk floor is a modern type of flooring. Recently, it has become very popular. The great popularity is due to the fact that installation work can be quite easily carried out independently and as a result, a very smooth surface can be obtained, which can become the basis for further decoration or an independent floor covering.

Bulk coating is a one-piece finish that has no seams. It also has a solid structure.

The composition of the product includes a variety of resins and mineral fillers. To add a decorative surface to the solution, various additives are added. By structure, it is a viscous substance that solidifies quite quickly.

The substances included in the solution provide excellent resistance to various external influences. Bulk floor differs in its purpose and its constituent substances. According to its purpose, it is divided into draft and finish.

The draft version is used to level the base for further installation of tiles, laminate or other selected flooring. To prepare the foundation, it is not necessary to take an expensive composition. On sale there are special self-leveling mixtures.

REFERENCE! For the finish coating, solutions are used, which include polymers. Thanks to them, the surface takes on a monolithic look. They have a very beautiful design that you can choose and make yourself.

This type of bulk floor differs in its characteristics and composition of the mixture. There are four options:

  • Epoxy. Used to create 3D drawings on the floor. Resistant to acids and other aggressive chemicals. But it does not tolerate mechanical effects;
  • Polyurethane Universal coating that can be mounted in absolutely any room. Resistant to stress and chemicals;

IMPORTANT! Polyurethane self-leveling floors can even be cleaned with abrasive cleaners.

  • Methyl methacrylate. They can be transparent in structure, dry very quickly. Three hours after completion of work, the surface is completely ready for use. But the coating does not tolerate the effects of reagents and mechanical loads;
  • Cement acrylic. The most durable option. It is mainly used in industrial premises;

This floor covering has several advantages:

  • It is very simple to look after him. It is enough to carry out wet cleaning using an ordinary mop;
  • Resistant to chemicals. Therefore, when stains are formed, they can be removed using cleaning agents based on chemicals;
  • Very long life. It can be more than 20 years;
  • It dries quickly. The floor is ready for use a few hours after the end of installation work;

Is it possible to fill the floor on an old tile? The most common finishing material for kitchens and bathrooms is ceramic tile. However, recently, more and more often, bulk floors are used for interior decoration. And many have the question - is it necessary to dismantle the tiles in order to carry out work on filling the new floor? The answer is no need!

The basis for the floor can be any smooth and prepared surface: wood, concrete, tile and other surfaces.

Before starting installation work, it is required to make an audit of the tile and prepare it:

  • Each element must be tapped with a mallet to check for voids. If they are, then the tile must be dismantled and a new one laid;
  • If the tile is glossy, then it should be sanded to ensure the need for coupling;
  • The surface must be cleaned of debris and dirt;

REFERENCE! If the room has a large area, then mounting on top of the tiles is not recommended, since it will be impossible to achieve the required level of coupling!

After the surface is prepared, you should proceed to work:

  1. The entire surface should be primed;
  2. Prepare the solution exactly according to the instructions. Since the mixture quickly hardens, but it is better to breed in small volumes;
  3. It is necessary to start pouring from a far corner, gradually moving towards the door;
  4. The solution is poured in small portions, which should be immediately leveled with a roller;

Bulk floors are a high-quality, beautiful and very durable coating. With proper installation, they will decorate the room for many years.
