How to place a sofa in the kitchen

If the room is small (less than 12 sq. M), then it is better to look for another room for accommodation. Before choosing, you must first select a place for it. Being in the kitchen, the sofa should not block the aisles and kitchen equipment. There are two placement options: in a corner or along a wall or window.

Placement of a sofa in the kitchen

The correct placement of such furniture in the kitchen can save square meters. After all, if you put the sofa wrong, then the kitchen will seem much smaller than it actually is.

In the corner

Corner sofas are a surface consisting mainly of polyurethane foam.

Important! Preference should be given to the surface of genuine leather - it is easier to care for. An alternative can be faux leather or arpatek.

The surface is located on the frame, consisting mainly of wood or chipboard. Usually inside such sofas are boxes for kitchen utensils. The color should be chosen neutral, light for small kitchens, so that it does not catch the eye. But for larger rooms, you can choose brighter colors, such as blue or yellow.

The sofa replaces chairs and stools, so you need to place it near the table. It is also worth considering that there should be enough free space between the furniture and the table to sit comfortably. This type of arrangement has the advantage of saving space due to the angular arrangement. However, the minus will be for guests who have a sleeping place in the kitchen: furniture will have to be laid out and the table cleaned.

Along the wall

This option is suitable for those who want to recreate a cozy atmosphere. An ordinary sofa is then located at the table, replacing chairs and stools. You should also remember the necessary space between the table and furniture. The item must not block passageways and access to kitchen utensils. It will also serve as a great place to sleep (per person), which does not require additional manipulations.

There is another accommodation option. For example, if the room is square, then the furniture can be placed near a free wall, regardless of the location of the table, and it will serve as a place to sit down or lie down and relax, reading, for example, a book. If the cookery is rectangular, then the furniture can be placed near a narrower wall, which will also serve as a place to relax. For spacious kitchens, an option with placement in the middle of the room is suitable.

Important! It is necessary to take care of the hood if the sofa surface consists of fabric to prevent the absorption of odors.

Placement depending on the shape of the sofa

For modern kitchens, upholstered furniture is most suitable. For a classic interior, a rectangular sofa is a great option. Upholstered furniture with a fabric or vinyl coating will fit into the youth style. Small wicker sofas are suitable for ethnic-style kitchens. The “urban interior” cooks are well complemented by bright sofas with armrests, legs and a rounded rear panel.
