How to clean the drum of a laser printer cartridge

To ensure the normal operation of any equipment, it is periodically necessary to inspect it and eliminate possible malfunctions. Nowadays, due to the large amount of information presented in printed form, printers are actively used. When used continuously, various problems and print quality problems can occur.

One of the main elements is a cartridge, thanks to which a fingerprint is applied on paper. In our article we will talk about how to clean it to restore the normal functioning of the equipment.

Before proceeding with cleaning the inside of the cartridge, you must correctly remove it from the printer. To do this is quite simple, follow the plan:

  1. Connect your computer and printer to the network, and pair them.
  2. Under normal conditions, printing should be done without visible malfunctions.
  3. Pause the printout of a document by clicking on the appropriate button in the settings menu.
  4. Lift the outer cover on the equipment body, then look inside. There you can find the necessary item.
  5. If there are special clamps for fixing, gently bend them. Do not make sudden movements, this may cause damage to the parts.
  6. Next, find the handles or special edges for which you can pull out the cartridge.
  7. Pull them and pull the item out of the housing.

IMPORTANT: When the laser is operating, the structural parts can become very hot, be careful when touching the elements, wait a bit until the equipment cools down.

After successfully completing the above steps, you can proceed to the main stage of cleaning the drum. To do this, prepare the workplace by removing excess objects and covering the table with sheets of paper or bags. You will also need: rags without lint, dry wipes, cotton buds ... Getting started:

  1. Lift the protective cover to cover the drum. This part looks like a shiny shaft (it can be of different colors).
  2. Once you have gained access, begin to gently wipe the part gently without effort. To do this, pull out the shaft, but with quick cleaning you can do without it.
  3. Simply roll the roller in the direction of its travel. Gradually remove foreign matter, toner residue, dust ...
  4. To clean the smallest parts, use cotton swabs and sweep away dirt.
  5. Additionally, treat the surface with a soft cloth so as not to scratch the surface.

IMPORTANT: Do not use wet wipes or rags soaked in water. This will damage the light element and damage the equipment.

The process of cleaning printer parts must be periodically performed as a preventative measure. This manipulation helps prevent quality deterioration and correct imperfections in the operation of the printer. During operation, the following elements may accumulate on the drum:

  • Residue of polymer powder when using low-quality materials.
  • Dust and dirt particles trapped during operation.
  • Foreign objects from paper or structural parts.

All of them can adversely affect the printing of the document, while printing will appear dimming and streaks of ink. Therefore, it is worth periodically cleaning parts; if necessary, contact a service center.
